Basic Search Help
Type your search word(s) into the box and click "go".
To search for posts from a specific user nickname, check the "Nickname" box and type the nickname in the search box.
To improve your search results, try the following:
1) Check your spelling or try other spelling variations.
2) Do not use quotation marks or special characters.
3) Use fewer words. (Instead of searching for stainless steel electric convection oven, try electric oven or oven.)
4) Try different combinations of words. (Instead of Mexican cuisine, try Mexican cooking or Mexican food.)
If you search for one word, such as tomato, the results will contain the word tomato somewhere in the Subject name or in the text of the of the Subject or Reply.
If you search for two or more words, such as bird feeder, the results will include Subjects or Replies that contain the exact phrase somewhere in the Subject name or in the text, PLUS Subjects or Replies that contain both bird and feeder but not next to each other. Results may include squirrel feeder if they also contain the word bird.
Basic Search works for Subjects, Replies or Nicknames in every area and conversation on the bulletin board. If you'd like to restrict your search to only certain areas or conversations,
use the Advanced Search option.
Advanced Search Help
Type your query in the text box. Your query can be a word, phrase, question or number.
You can choose the following options for your search:
All Words returns only Subjects or Replies that contain at least one occurrence of every word you typed. (Search ignores common words like a, and, the, these and so on.)
Exact Phrase returns only Subjects or Replies that contain at least one occurrence of the exact combination of words you typed in the exact order you typed them. (Search ignores common words like a, and, the, these and so on.
Any words returns Subjects or Replies containing at least one occurrence of at least one of the words or phrases you typed. (Search automatically ignores common words like a, and, the, these and so on.) If you are having trouble getting results with other options, use the Any words option.
Use the Search Options check boxes to restrict your search to Subjects, Replies, Nicknames or any combination of the three.
In addition to choosing the type of search you want to perform, you can restrict your search to only certain areas or conversations in the bulletin board. Advanced Search looks at all conversations that have a check mark beside them. Click on individual check boxes to remove (or add) the check mark, or click "Clear All" to remove all check marks from an area (or "Check All" to add all check marks to an area). For example, if you are looking for a recipe, you can limit your search to only Taste of Home conversations by clicking the "Clear All" options for Birds and Blooms and Country Discoveries. This will result in much faster search results.
